Russian violinist Andrey Baranov won the International Competition at the Queen Elizabeth, which was held in Brussels. Results of the competition were announced on the night of the 27th May following Intermedia citing ITAR-TASS. In the first semifinal of a 26-year-old native of St. Petersburg performed Concerto for Violin and Orchestra No. 3 by Mozart, and the second - from Tchaikovsky's "Souvenir expensive place" (three pieces for violin and piano, opus 42). For the finale, musicians chose the Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 2 by Sergei Prokofiev. The winner receives a prize of 25,000 euros. Second place went to Japanese Tatsuko Narita, he receives 20,000 euros. The jury awarded the third place representative of the South Korean Hyun Soo Shin. The third prize of € 17,000. The competition was part of 78 violinists, including seven musicians from Russia. The right, in the finals were only 12 people. One of the six winners of the competition was the White Russian Artem Shishkov. Queen Elisabeth Competition in 1951 instead. Every year the jury selects the best musicians in one of four nominations: violin, piano, voice and composition of academic art. Thus, for each nomination contest will be held regularly - every three to four years. Soviet and Russian musicians were the winners of the 13 times.
